Our Family History

What started out almost 20 years ago as research into my maternal (Hinson) line and a site for the descendants of my great grandparents, has developed over the years into a massive undertaking. After a few years into my research, I was able track down a half-sister and find starting information on my birth father's line. (Williams)

Once I put the data online for my family, I began to get queries from others researching Hinson lines and added their lines to the database. From that point, collateral lines were added until today we have over 6,000 families and almost 20,000 individuals in our database. Much of this information was submitted by my close and distant cousins, many of whom have become dear friends via the site.

However, the database has now become a bit unwieldy so I will be making changes over the next few weeks. The current tree is named "Master Database." I have now created a second tree for just my line. This tree is named Harrison Hinson Sr. and included everyone in that tree. This covers over half of our active members. If you do a search using the fields at top right, it will only bring up results from the Harrison Hinson Sr. tree. If the person you are searching for is not in that line, a page will open with advanced search options where you can select the tree you wish to search. Right now there are just the two mentioned but I will be adding 4-6 more and eventually will delete the master database. In addition to the information here, there is a wealth of information on the blog including but not limited to obituaries, birth announcements, reunion announcements, etc.

In 2012 I created a Facebook group for our members. This is our 'social hub' where we discuss anything and everything that is interesting to our members. The group is "Hinson Crossroads" Check us out.

As you browse the site, take whatever information you can use in your research. Living individuals will not show up in search results and can be seen only by those who submit that information.

There are three levels of access and they are as follows:

Guest: All registered users: Browse the site and see all data other than private/living individuals.

Editor: Registered users who support the site financially or submit information to the tree. These users have access to Admin area and can add, edit and delete information, including media. In addition, those who support the site financially will be able to download GEDCOM and PDF files.

Administrator: Myself and those trusted individuals who support the site financially and have shown an interest in helping to maintain the site and see it grow.

The site is always a work in progress. I work on the site almost daily to make it easier to use and more valuable to our visitors. The site is free of advertisements (other than those that I may put on the blog section) and will always be FREE to users.
